Edgewood, Md.

Brad Alan Taft, age 61, of Edgewood, Maryland passed away on December 29, 2022 at his home.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 20, 1961, Brad was the son of the late Jerry Dale Taft and the late Mary Jane Taft. He grew up in Michigan, then Hahn Air Force Base in Germany, then in Minot, North Dakota.

Brad earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Minot State University in 1987 and his Master of Science in Nursing Informatics from the University of Maryland in 1995.

He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1990. He married MaryAnn Jung on August 12, 1989 and was a God-honoring husband and father of four sons Philip, Jesse, Josiah and Isaiah.

Brad had many interesting and life-changing experiences, including traveling for four months in South America after high school, working in the oil fields near Williston, North Dakota; and traveling to Peshawar, Pakistan in September, 1988.

He sought to serve the United States military as a research nurse at the USACHPPM (United States Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine) from 1999 until 2009.

Brad loved God and people. He loved his family.

Brad loved his friends. He wanted to be a blessing to his family and friends. He wanted to point others to Jesus. He wanted most to honor God with all of his life.

When his MS symptoms worsened, he continued to look for God’s purposes.

Many Bible verses come to mind when considering Brad’s earthly life.

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:27-30

Brad is survived by his wife of 33 years, MaryAnn; son Philip (wife Janice Taft and their daughter Haylee); Jesse Taft (girlfriend Valory Myers); Josiah Taft (girlfriend Toni Grad), Isaiah (wife Lina Taft and their daughter Carmen); Aunt Kaareen Harrison; brother Toby (wife Blenda); sisters Mardi (husband Mark) and Melissa (husband Steven); nephew Carlan (wife Karna, their children Abbsidy, Wyntr and Autumn); nieces Heather (husband Dustin and their children Alyssa and Anthony) and Jennifer (her daughters Alexis and Brooke); stepmother Sandi Taft and treasured friends and church family.

Brad’s body was donated to the Maryland Board of Anatomy for medical education and research.
