Cox announces new 2nd District Court judge’s appointment | News, Sports, Jobs

SALT LAKE CITY — Gov. Spencer Cox on Tuesday appointed Jason Nelson, a longtime Davis County prosecutor, to a vacancy on the 2nd District Court bench.
If the Utah Senate confirms the appointment, Nelson will replace Judge David Connors, who retires in March.
“His professionalism and love of our state will serve the community well,” Cox said in a prepared statement announcing Nelson’s appointment.
Nelson has been a deputy Davis County attorney since 2008. He also served as a prosecutor for West Bountiful City and North Salt Lake City.
“I am grateful for and humbled by the confidence Gov. Cox has placed in me with this appointment,” Nelson said in a statement. “If confirmed by the Utah Senate, I will work diligently to serve the people of this great state with integrity, respect, fairness and impartiality.”
Nelson received a bachelor’s degree in history from Brigham Young University and a law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU. Nelson is on the West Point Planning Commission.
