Adam Fred of Dunkirk/Fredonia/Forestville reacts Tuesday evening after winning the 50-yard freestyle in a Chautauqua-Cattarugus Athletic Association swim meet against Olean/Allegany-Limestone/Franklinville at Dunkirk High School. Adam Fred hit a New York State Public High School Athletic Association-qualifying time in the 50-yard freestyle, but Dunkirk/Fredonia/Forestville fell to Olean/Allegany-Limestone/Franklinville 102-62 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association boys swimming and diving Tuesday at Dunkirk High School.
Fred, celebrating Senior Night, swam a school-record time of 21.89 seconds to win the 50-yard freestyle and then won the 100-yard backstroke in 54.86 seconds to reestablish his school record and miss a state-qualifying time by four-hundredths of a second.
D/F/F’s Riley Smith-Mallon had a personal best in the 200-yard individual medley by almost 40 seconds, Trenton Krenzer swam personal bests in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, and Matt Dunn swam a personal best in the 100-yard backstroke.
