CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — At least two trading card stores across metro Atlanta have been targeted by thieves. The owners said the items taken are worth tens of thousands.

“After we found out, I saw it on camera. The door was smashed. They shattered the entire door,” Bob Mulligan told Channel 2.

Workers at BT Collectives in Woodstock have spent the past two weeks cleaning up the mess that thieves left behind. According to an incident report, Mulligan had at least three display cases broken into.

The first display case had $10,000 worth of Pokémon cards taken. In the other two cases, a thief took basketball cards worth $20,000 and baseball cards worth $30,000.

“We had them arranged differently and those were the highest value in the store,” Mulligan said.

BT Collectives wasn’t alone. In a few cities over in Roswell, thieves also hit Dave’s Sports Cards on Mansell Road.

“He had come around back through the cemetery. He shattered the glass to the front to the vault and then left,” owner David Olivieri told Channel 2.

Olivieri eventually discovered someone made it to his vault and took $15,000 worth of cards and memorabilia.

“There is a rare box of a 2008 Topps triple threat sealed box. We are the only store in the state that had that sealed product,” he said.

Back in Cherokee County, customers have rallied behind BT Collectibles and came back almost immediately to the community standout.

“We had customers going around the glass. They wanted to support us. So it’s that kind of community,” Mulligan said.

It is unclear if the two thefts are connected. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Roswell police are continuing their investigations.
